It can be used outside of combat, by splinting, suturing, pressure, and using specific remedies all of which need good access to the patient, which is why it can't be used in combat. However, you can use it in combat with an herbal pack, which is a general remedy. You cannot be in melee yourself when you use it, so you need to be further back in the party. Also, the herbal pack does not heal as well as using remedy outside of combat. Skill Usage
