Immortals

Immortals consist of all those beings who have a corporeal form (and
only a corporeal form) within the Retroverse. Gods have a
non-corporeal form (although they can manifest themselves for a short
time as other corporeal beings) and Immortals can be non-corporeal
for temporarily, but they cannot stay in that form indefinitely.

Immortals are the beings united by The Creator and charged with the
sole purpose of returning the Retroverse back to its original
form. Their origins begin with the first Creator. However, the lure
of his power eventually led the first Creator to the ways of evil,
and he was banished by those with the welfare of the RetroMUD
universe in mind. In record history, there have only been three other
High Creators to achieve such power - Talien, Rayzam and Alaron.

All Immortals were Gifted Ones at some point, which forever leaves
them with ties to their mortal selves. Some Immortals pretend they are
above this, or deny their original roots. As such, all Immortals have
forms which can utilize all Gifted One abilities. How immortality is
achieved by mere mortals now, no one knows. The Immortals seem to hand
pick from the Gifted Ones whom they will advance to the next state of
greater being. Nevertheless, it is always a tricky business.

Beneath the Circle of High Creators there are many other levels of
Immortals. These are commonly grouped as Wizards, although this is a
misnomer since the term 'Wizard' is a title, not the group itself.

Immortals have seemingly unlimited power, but they are bound by their
own series of rules known only to them. Much of what keeps them in
check are the Gods, who will unite together if they believe that the
Immortals threaten their power base. Therefore, Immortals only interfere
when absolutely necessary, and only then to fix or correct a rift.

Immortals come in all shapes and sizes, form, races, genders, creeds,
colors, and religions. They are powerful beings and could easily be
considered gods if there were not more powerful Gods who held them in
check.
