Reimbursement

*You qualify for a reimbursement when something happens to cause your
character
some sort of immediate loss which is due to RetroMUD's fault, and has
nothing to do with the natural course of events for your character during
normal game play.

Note that reimbursement must happen within a reasonable period of time
- reimbursements for more than a week past become invalid.

THIS DOES INCLUDE:
-Getting items back when the MUD crashes.
[This specifically means automatic crash recovery. With
the archwizard or higher reimburse command if that fails
for you. This *does not* cover items in floating discs,
held by minions. On the floor in castles or rooms.]
-Getting items back when the system is shut down for some other reason.
-Getting your character remade when a bug screws him up.
NOTE: Character reimbursements are *only* made if you register. That
is we require a place to email for true confirmation.

-Getting a free reincarnation when your guild gets heavily revised.

THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE:
-Getting additional rewards because the monster you killed gained
additional
loot two weeks after you killed it. Why? Becuse it's not a mistake or
error.
The wizards at the time decided to change the rewards. It is also not
immediate. You likewise cannot be reimbursed for "causal" actions, such as
"Because I didn't get the gems from this monster to do this quest, I ended
up dying trying to get to this other monster instead."

-Getting items back after your own site lags during a reboot. Why? This
has nothing to do with RetroMUD, as it's not a bug nor is it our fault that
it
happened.

-Getting a wizard resurrection after your own site lags or drops link.
Why? This has nothing to do with RetroMUD, as it's not a bug nor
is it our fault that it happened.

-Getting your character reimbursed after a purge. Characters get
purged to make way for new character names. Inactive characters who are
gone for six months or more are liable to be removed by a purge. We
expect you to make an effort to log in once during that time -- we do
not selectively choose whom is removed, an automated daemon removes
people based on date. Keeping your character current is YOUR
responsibility!
Failure to do so, regardless of external circumstances, violates your right
to that character.

-Getting free reincarnations because you don't like the changes in a guild.

Why? Because this is not some accident. Any changes the RetroMUD staff
makes to code is for a reason, and we do not offer reincarnations out of
guilds because a player happens to think we "ruined it."

*Reimbursement is a privilege. Remember this when you ask to be reimbursed,
it
is something we do at RetroMUD because there are a few bugs in the game,
and we want you to continue to be able to play it while at the same time
TEST
it. This does mean that minor reimbursements may not be given out at all.

*Cheating on your reimbursement will cause you to be force reincarnated
(and
all further reimbursements will stop to that character). If you are caught
cheating, you lose your reimbursement privileges.

*The list of reimbursement wizards fluctuates. There are also dire
consequences for telling one wizard (who refuses you reimbursement and
explains why) and then asking another. Don't do it. Use mudmail to reach
out to the 'archs' group if you do not see a staffer online.

*Most reimbursement will be through automatic crash recovery. If by chance
after a crash you don't get reimbursement, you can ask any wizard to try to
reimburse you. If that automatic wizard reimbursement fails, that's it.
No more manual reimbursements.

NOTE: You must get a reimbursement during the game session when you are
on.
Going linkdead is fine, but if the MUD shuts down while you
are linkdead, you will not be able to be reimbursed.
Therefore, get a reimbursement from a wizard during a boot,
and if you suffer from a crash, be SURE TO NOT GET ON UNTIL YOU ARE
POSITIVE
YOU CAN GET A REIMBURSEMENT!!!
Do NOT quit after coming on, if you need a reimbursement STAY ON
until you get one, or DON'T get on.
