Conduct

RetroMUD makes it a point of keeping, in best cases, a friendly
atmosphere, and in worst cases, a tolerant one. If you have a
problem with something someone says on a channel that you believe
shouldn't be spoken there (HELP CHANNELS), by all means notify an
archwizard or administrator. Part of this attempt to keep you
secure is that you should distribute as little real life
information about yourself (the player) as possible. More
specifically, do not refer to yourself or others by your real
name over channels or in news, do not discuss details of your
real life over channels or in news (except on chat, and even then
don't discuss intimate details), and do not generally reveal
information that nobody wants to know. If you are wondering
whether or not you should say something about yourself, don't
- this is for your own protection as well as to prevent future
problems. Conversely, no player (including wizards) can
discriminate against you because of you as a player - after all,
he shouldn't know anything about you anyway. Nevertheless,
you cannot be discriminated against in any way. This means the
only way someone can discriminate against you based on real life
attributes is if someone tells the other person. So the best way
to regulate this is to regulate yourself.

NOTE: Physical appearance, and any sexual implications made or
derived thereof, can be construed as an abuse of channels. All
it takes is for ONE person to be offended in this manner for
the whole conversation to be investigated and to threaten your
channel privileges. SIMPLY KNOWING THE PERSON, SEEING THEIR
PICTURE ON THE WEB, OR EVEN HAVING THEM IN THE SAME ROOM DOES
NOT GIVE YOU LICENSE FOR INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR ON A CHANNEL.
You can expect channels with more restricted use to be examined
more closely than channels which are relatively unrestricted (chat).
Do not assume that merely because no one objects publicly that you
can say whatever you want --often times the individuals who find
offense wish to remain anonymous.
