Tavern

# Merchant-Run Taverns
# Moriant/Kyrt/Avarice 1996-2008

+------------------+
I : Introduction
+------------------+
Certain prime spots in the retroverse have been selected for their high
foot traffic and easy accessibility. Taverns have been carefully
constructed
in these locations to take advantage of the passing trade.

A merchant needs to have the barkeeping skill trained and sufficient funds
in her account (50k gold) in order to rent the shop.

+-----------------------+
II : Running the shop
+-----------------------+
The shop is primarily designed to provide a merchant with RP opportunity.

It only runs when the merchant is present in the shop - no shopkeeper
can be hired to automatically generate money.

Patrons can order food and drinks and sing songs for each others
entertainment.
These commands are given in the poster which is pinned up in every shop.
Gold is automatically taken from patrons when they order.

Merchants can use their "create food" spell to serve food and alcohol to
their
patrons.

Takings from the shop are stored safely in the cash box until the merchant
collects them. The takings from the shop are influenced by the level of
training the merchant has invested in the barkeeping skill.

+-----------------------+
Hiring an entertainer
+-----------------------+
Use the command "shop bard" to hire an entertainer for your tavern.

Then use the following commands:
bgag - turns off the custom emotes (he will still do bard emotes)
bcomment - add your own comments for him to say (maximum of 20)
bdismiss - send the bard away

+----------------------------+
Status, collecting, upkeep
+----------------------------+
Use the command "shop status" to check the current status of the shop.
Everything here should be self-explanatory. Drink and food orders
are cleared by Armagg-Odhin.

Use the command "shop collect" to withdraw the cash from the register.

Upkeep for a tavern costs 250 gold per week. You need to pay this in
advance by using the command "shop upkeep " where indicates
for how many weeks you want to pay in advance. Upkeep costs are first
taken from the shop register and then from your bank account if there
aren't enough funds.

Meta-game notes
+-----------------+
Creating a trigger to automatically serve people is botting and so against
the rules. The decision not to have a shopkeeper was deliberate.
