Psionicist guild

The psionicist guild is a very, very unique guild, as it has many
interesting spells and skills. Although there are many useful skills and
spells, there are particular ones which you should focus on (and some which
you should not) to help make your life as a newbie better:

--- At level 9 ---

>>> Skills:

1) ATTACK - This is the primary skill which will help you score hits with
your weapon/fists. It would be best to find a dagger or thin blade to aid
you in killing monsters since you will not have enough spell points when
you first start out to rely completely on spells.

2) DAGGER/BLUDGEON/THIN BLADE - These will all help you do damage with a
particular kind of weapon. You might wish to choose one to focus on and use
that particular weapon (ie: dagger, if you like daggers).

3) CONSIDER HUMANOID - This is an excellent skill to have as a newbie since
it can help you determine whether you can kill something or not. The best
way to figure out how it works is by experimenting with it on some
monsters.

4) MEDITATION - This skill will help you regenerate your sps more quickly
(when used). It is a MUST HAVE for any newbie, and even the highest of
highbies use it too. Since you probably will not have excellent spell point
regeneration (or equipment to help you regenerate), this skill is a
necessity.

>>>Spells:

1) PSIBOLT - Although a relatively weak spell, this spell will help you in
your lower levels since its spell point cost is very low (at 12 sps
per-cast).

2) PSIBLAST - This is a more powerful form of psibolt, so you will be using
this alot more than psibolt (but its spell point cost is higher).

3) PSIWAVE - This spell does area damage, meaning it hits everyone in the
room (save yourself and party membets), so it is good to have if you want
to fight a large number of enemies all at once. Be careful, though, because
you must take into account that all those monsters will be hitting you, so
you will most likely be hurt alot more.

4) ASTRAL PROJECTION - This spell brings you into a place called 'limbo.'
Limbo allows you to travel to any world's adv guild you want, so this spell
is a necessity for transportation. You will find yourself using it in your
high levels as well.

5) PROJECT FORCE - Although this spell does not deal psionic damage (it
does physical damage), it is much more powerful and psibolt and psiblast,
so it is good to have when dealing with tougher enemies.

--- At level 13 ---

>>> Skills:

1) CONCENTRATION - This will speed up your casting by a round, which will
add up if you're trying to do hit-and-run killing or trying to kill
something quickly.

>>> Spells:

1) FOCUS HEART CHAKRA - aka: self-heal. This spell heals you, and, of
course, is necessary as a newbie since you'll be fighting solo alot.

2) RESIST PAIN - This spell brings your hit points up 200-300 points
temporarily, so it is a very nice thing to have if you're fighting a tough
monster. Note the high spell point cost, though, so use it with caution.

3) PSISCREAM - This is a stronger form of psiwave.

--- Notes about some skills and spells ---
The following spells/skills should not be immediately trained, but a note
should be made about them as they will be extremely useful in the future.

>>> Skills:

1) SPIRIT EYE - Although this skill can be useful, it is not totally
necessary (since you can do 'help spell ' and see how many rounds it
takes to cast).

2) CRYSTALMANCY/FOCUSING - These two skills tie together, as you need to
use crystalmancy on a gem to be able to use focusing. As a newbie the extra
round will probably not be necessary (and you won't have easy-access to
gems), but in the higher levels, losing two rounds off a powerful spell
like psychic crush can be an awesome power.

>>> Spells:

1) FOCUS THROAT CHAKRA - This spell creates what is known as a 'mind link'
and will be mentioned as necessary in some spells. No newbie spells (that
were recommended above) require this, but in the future this is a necessary
spell to have. >> To mindlink to yourself you must use the
'meditation' skill.

2) FOCUS CROWN CHAKRA - This spell temporarily raises your spell points (by
about 200-300), and can be very useful if you are in a party and are
gearing up for a big monster. In the newbie levels, however, the spell cost
(and the fact that newbies cannot regenerate quickly enough) make this
spell useless. Later, though, you will definately want to use this.

3) FOCUS ROOT CHAKRA - This spell gives you a form of the abjurer spell
'Iron Will.' Although it is not surefire, it will [almost] prevent you from
being stunned. When you are stunned you cannot move, use skills, etc., so,
when fighting a large monster, this spell can save your life.

--- Final note about training/learning skills/spells ---

When you finish training those recommended skills/spells, you will probably
want to train every skill/spell in the guild to at least 60% (because after
you advance to lvl 14 OR you train something to 60%, training costs money)
EXCEPT for dowsing, a useless skill.

--- Good areas to go to as a newbie psi ---

Here are some very good areas to travel to while you're on raji (the psi
guild homeworld)
Directions are from the guild entrance (up on the hill):

Adventurers challenge: 2n, d, 3w, 6n. Not only is this a good area for
newbies, but it provides a nice amount of cash.

Since the guild is in Suthnas, and there aren't many newbie areas there, it
would be wise to travel to another planet such as Sosel or Welstar. There
is a multitude of newbie areas on those planets.

--- Killing strategies ---

As a newbie, you will probably be killing solo alot, but fortunately, psis
are one of the best guilds for soloing (woohoo)! With your powerful spells
such as psiscream, psiblast, and project force, you will probably have
little trouble taking down your enemies. Since you are equipped with the
healing spell 'focus heart chakra,' you will be able to heal yourself after
battle.

As a psi, you will also be very versatile in parties. You can fend for
yourself since you have spells similar to the ones only specialized guilds
get (ie: resist pain), and you have a spell to heal yourself. You will most
likely be 'blasting' (aka: casting offensive spells) in parties. Your
meditation skill should help you regenerate your spell points quickly.

--- What's next? ---

Well, as you advance beyond the ranks of a newbie, you will discover that
psis, although they are not as good blasters as mages, have numerous
powerful offensive spells, and a multitude of unique, helpful spells. One
of my favorite spells, which you will get later, is 'channel energy.' Just
think of the possibilities with that spell! The psi guild is a unique one,
and if you chose it, you made a very excellent choice. The only drawback is
that psionic damage will occasionally not work on some monsters and it also
won't work on undead creatures (as they are mindless). All in all, the psi
guild is very enjoyable, and you won't regret your decision as you gain
more levels and power.
