Port, n.  Number of the line a player is connected to the game by. Holdover
from the BBS days when modems tied directly into the computer running a
game. Now port refers to the index number of the file descriptor by which
the game is presently communicating with the player. Essentially this
number is meaningless to all but those involved in coding or working on the
game behind the scenes.
