Highbie challenge

When you get higher level, things start gunning for YOU. It's
not just about gaining exp -- it's about being worthy of your level.
Remember, the angels/demons/knights don't attack people of
lower level. If they are attacking you, that means you're of
comparable level. Since you're high enough level, that means
you could be doing something about them.

Don't want to do anything and run like a lowbie with your tail
between your legs? That's fine. There's a price for cowardice.

It is not sufficient to pretend you solo on this game -- that you
don't need anybody, that they don't need you, and that this game
is about everyone just doing their own thing completely
independent of each other.

Part of the fun of this game is the gaming community. The
ones who participate least are the ones who think they are
above it (or thought they were til they were harassed by one
of the events).

Angels/Demons/Knights are a hazard of being higher level.
They are a force of nature that's testing if you're worthy of
your level. If you can't have enough foresight to appropriately
guard your castle, if you can't gather your wits and use your
survival tactics, if you can't bother to get off your keister
to kill something that by doing so, removes the threat (which
only gets worse the longer the event runs)...

THEN YOU WILL DIE.

And you will die an ignominious death. And you will die
like a newbie who didn't know what the hell he was doing.

One of the beauties of Retro is -- it weeds out the weak.

If you cruised to highbie level and really don't know how
to party, if you're basically a big shmuck who nobody
wants to party with (because nobody likes you), if you
aren't able to party effectively -- then you don't deserve
to be the level you're at.

We've said it before, we'll say it again: there's no retiring
on Retro. There's no working really hard for something
and then retaining it forever, never having it break, never
risk losing it. There is no guarantees. We insist on breaking
the paradigm, challenging you, and as you get higher level,
giving you different challenges you never faced before.

We believe this insistence on dynamism keeps the game
flowing. Highbies who can't deal with this will be wiped
out -- or they will run, and everyone will know how they
DON'T help, even though they are empowered to do so.
