Corpses are the physical shells left behind when living beings are killed. If the being had a soul, it can remain connected to its fresh corpse and might even cause the corpse to rise as an undead, if it is not buried or disposed of properly. Paladins and Fallen are most notable for using this property, the former gaining honour by laying to rest the corpses of evil beings, the latter gaining power by feeding corpses of anything that happened to cross their path, to the blades that wield them. However, most Gifted Ones' guilds grant dues when corpses are buried in accordance with the guild's method, as a sign of allegiance, and usually this will be done rather than have a corpse rise. More nefariously, the Necromancers are notorious for butchering corpses and taking parts with them for their experiments, and some have put together parts of corpses into undead beings that move, act and abide by their commands.
