The Chovihani Guild
 

As the collective calls themselves the "rataciti" or "lost ones," the term chovihani should traditionally be reserved only for the mystical elite among their numbers, though even the cei rataciti themselves will sometimes use the term otherwise. The practice of supernatural powers is regarded with awe by both gorgios (outsiders) and rataciti alike. These spellcasters, the chovihanis, serve the important function in rataciti society of being able to both bless and poison, heal or make sick. Equally important however, the chovihani is one who is respected for both wisdom and knowledge of magical beliefs and practices. It is the chovihani, for example, who has knowledge of the many social taboos which regulate rataciti life, as well as many magically based social ceremonies such as baptism, marriage, or divorce. Chovihani are often marked by distinct physical appearance compared to others of their race. Some have been described as having eyes like a bird, with the corners of the eyes turned up like the point of a curved pointed knife. Others have hair is that is very straight but then curled at the ends. If nothing else, they also usually have darker and more brilliant eyes than other members of their race.
