Playing on a MUD is extremely complex. There are many commands, and many details that apply only to certain situations. If it seems overwhelming, don't worry - EVERYONE on here had to start at the point you are at now (although they may deny it), including the administrators. We'll walk you through the character creation process, which you will only do once unless you reincarnate. RetroMUD is one of the most entertaining, complex, and interesting MUDs you'll ever see. What is a MUD?   A MUD (Multi-User Dungeon) is a computer program which users can log into and explore. An LPMud is one of many classes of muds, or multi-user domains. A multi-user domain is defined solely with respect to its ability to allow multiple real individuals to come together in some sort of environment. Each user takes control of a computerized character. You can walk around, chat with other characters, explore dangerous monster-infested areas, solve puzzles, and even create your very own rooms, descriptions and items. An LPMud specifically allows the users to manipulate the environment through a language called LPC. LPMuds are computer programs which listens to the internet for people attempting to connect, reads LPC files, and acts upon those LPC files according to the rules of the LPC language to create the virtual environment.
